How I Used My iPhone Camera at Bond Falls
How I Used My iPhone Camera at Bond Falls
My wife Carrie and I and our good friends Tim and Laurie recently visited the beautiful Bond Falls Scenic Site in the upper peninsula of the State of Michigan. If you have never been there, the Bond Falls Scenic Site is home to one of the most picturesque falls in the Midwest.
Bond Falls is a popular destination, attracting visitors year-round for hiking, photography, picnicking or simply relaxing while taking in spectacular views. I call it a photographer’s playground.
Inspired by Apple’s new “Shot on iPhone” ads (maybe you have seen them) demonstrating the impressive recording capabilities available with the latest iPhone cameras, I decided to put my iPhone 6s camera to the test at Bond Falls.
In this edition, I am going to share with you some of my favorite Bond Falls photos and videos I captured using my iPhone 6s camera and iOS built-in Camera app. Shall we….
How I Used My iPhone Camera at Bond Falls
Although I am by no means a professional photographer, I enjoy the thrill of capturing creative and memorable photos and videos.
Below are the results of my iPhone 6s camera test. Keep in mind, due to the size of some the live photos and videos, I needed to post them elsewhere and link to them. Please click the shared links to view.
Also, keep in mind that the video shared is not displayed in true quality due to automatic downsizing by Facebook.

The following photos were taking naturally with my iPhone 6s. I wanted to see what the built-in camera could do without modifying any settings. Here are the results…
2. buy disulfiram online usa Live Photos
A Live Photo captures 1.5 seconds of video and audio both before and after you press the shutter button to take a photo (available on iPhone 6s, 6s Plus). So in addition to a 12 megapixel still JPEG image, you also get a 3 second Live Photo. You can use Live Photos with both the rear and front facing camera of those phones.
When you view a Live Photo, you don’t just see the still image that you took when you pressed the shutter button. Instead, you’ll see a 3 second moving image.
While you can only shoot a Live Photo with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models, you can share them to other Apple devices such as an iPad or an older iPhone, as long as the device is running iOS 9. You can view live photos on Macs running OS X El Capitan or newer. Live Photos are now supported by some social media sites like Facebook.
As you can imagine, it’s great for photographing any scene with moving subjects or interesting sounds.
Here are 3 second Live Photos taken at Bond Falls that captures the movement of the water. Just click here to view them on Facebook.
3. Panorama Photos
The ability to take panorama photos on mobile devices has been around for years, and I still love taking panoramic photos of scenery (sunsets are great!).
During our visit to Bond Falls, I played around with my iPhone’s pano feature. Although not the best platform to view panoramic photos, here are two of my favorites…
4. Regular Video
I love recording video to capture a scene or a moment, and during our visit to Bond Falls there were plenty of opportunities for video. Here are two of my favorites. Just click here to view them on Facebook.
5. Slo-Mo Video
I absolutely love playing around with the slo-mo video option on my iPhone 6s (slo-mo video is supported on the iPhone 5s or newer). I have been able to catch some amazing slo-mo video over the years and Bond Falls provided me many great opportunities to be creative with slo-mo.
Here are a few of my favorite slo-mo videos…so cool, check them out on Facebook!

What an amazingly beautiful place to visit and have fun with your iPhone. If you are ever in the Bond Falls area, make sure you stop by and check it out. If the weather is good, make sure you park on top and take the 10 minute walk down to the base of the falls. You won’t regret it!
If you have any special ways you have used your iOS device’s camera, please share it with me on my Facbeook page. I’d love to hear from you!
